The WTA tennis year-end championship is on... it features the top 8 players... it's to determine the best among the best.
I.. as always, supports Maria Sharapova. She's been thru a tough year, dealing with her shoulder injury. She was the next qualified player after Venus backed out for some health related reason (she was ranked 6 but she didn't qualify coz she didn't play enough match for the year). The last time i watched her play... her shoulder is so bad i felt the pain every time she served(talk about being fanatic and dramatic on my part!). Seeing her performance at the championship.. she's getting back to her top form. Her serves are great, placement great... i can see she was trying so hard with the injury still lingering. She works so hard... she is a fighter. She beat kuznetsova last night... what a huge recovery!
Hantuchova was also one of my fave players... watching her play at the championship... arghhh! i don't like her anymore. Sure she's talented... but she has not matured in her game although she has been playing the game way longer than most of the players. Her weakness is very obvious when she's up against the top players... she perform good tennis some of the time... but she is soooo not consistent. She's out of my favourite list.
Justine Henin... well she is the no.1 player .. and has been for so long. OK she's got great skills and all. But i just don't like watching her play. She is sooo not exciting. There is no emotion, strictly tennis. It's like watching a game on the PLaystation. SHe doesn't bring excitement to the game. Boring!

Ana Ivanovic... i haven't really seen her play before. I watched her on the championship... wow! she got game! Her placement is sooo near perfect. Her serves are great. Her forehand shot (they call it the "bye-bye forehand") is one of the best I've seen. She always work her way around the ball so she can execute the forehand. She plays the ball deep. She reads her opponent well. What I like most, she is calm, she smiles a lot (as if she's playing for the fun of the game) and she shows how she feels. It's exciting to watch her play... i am impressed with how her mind works during the matches. She may not be a big fighter like sharapova, but she's the smart player.
Serena Wiliams.. well, she is one of the best players i've seen but i just don't like her attitude all this while. Yesterday she was in her best attitude (not stucked up).. turned out she was suffering an injury on her left knee. She retired after the 1st set. She's scheduled to play tonight, we'll see if she'll be back.
Yesterday.. sharapova defeated kuznetsova (who lost to ivanovic as well). So now, both sharapova and ivanovic qualified for the semifinal... one of them is going to play Henin so i have to watch henin play. I hope both of them make it to the final. I really hope sharapova wins... but with her injury still not fully healed... ivanovic is my next choice.
